About the Wildlife Rescue Directory Project
The Wildlife Rescue Directory is the largest human-edited directory supporting British wildlife. Our powerful SQL dynamic database allows us to keep all contact information up to date and ensure the accuracy of information provided. This is only possible because it is constructed and maintained by a dedicated community of volunteer editors.
The Brilliance and Danger of the Internet
The World Wide Web is growing at a staggering rate and almost all the information known to the world is available to us, at the click of a few buttons. However, with ever greater numbers of websites becoming available, the major search engines that accept automatic submissions cannot manage the accuracy of their data, or the relevance of the results. As the Internet grows and time passes, links become broken, information deteriorates, gets out of date and may become inaccurate. Misinformation can result.
The Wildlife Rescue Directory Intelligence
The Wildlife Rescue Directory uses humans, rather than machines, to filter this explosion of information relating to wildlife care, rescue, rehabilitation and emergency action, and condense it into a single resource of reliable and current data. As the Internet grows so does our community of volunteer experts who combine to continually reject the bad and keep the best content in the Directory.
You Can Make a Difference
Like any community, the more you put in the more you get back. This is why the Wildlife Rescue Directory provides the opportunity for everyone to contribute.
Joining is easy and free: Simply sign up and join in. Add yourself as a member to add, edit and delete links in seconds. We are constantly seeking those very special individuals willing to take in a sick or injured animal day or night; if you are/know that person, please add them now.
You will be making the Internet a better resource and help improve the outcome for ten’s of thousands of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and birds every year.
Why do we show ‘Paid For’ Commercial Listings?
While the content of the Wildlife Rescue Directory is the result of the combined brain of all our volunteer members we still have sizeable operating costs that no individual would wish to bear. By seeking relevant partner sponsorship the Wildlife Recue Directory can continue to run the project and re-distribute all income over expenditure to the good causes and charities listed, as we are a not-for-profit organisation.
